Woman in hospital after violent sexual assault in parkade

 Police want to speak to this man who was caught on surveillance video around the time of a violent sexual assault in a downtown parkade early Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015. Calgary Police Service / Calgary Herald At about 3:45 a.m., police were notified by security guards at a parkade in the 200 block of 6th Avenue S.W. that they had come across a severely beaten woman in her 40s. “It’s believed the woman met her attacker around 3rd Street and 7th Avenue S.W., and agreed to go with him to meet a friend,” said Staff Sgt. Bev Voros of the CPS Sex Crimes Unit. “After meeting the friend, the group dispersed, with the suspect and victim continuing to the stairwell where the woman was beaten and sexually assaulted.” “They were strangers,” said Voros. “They had just met very recently prior to that. There was no relationship at all.” Voros said the victim is in severe condition. “Physically, she will recover,” said Voros. “But she’s in rough shape.” Police are seeking a dark-skinned man, between five-foot-six and five-foot-eight, with a slim build, believed to be a suspect. He was wearing a tuque, a brown sweater, black jacket with fur on the hood, runners and blue jeans. A person of interest is described as brown-skinned, possibly of Middle Eastern descent, with a slim build. He was wearing a track suit and a red coat. Police are also looking to identify the man caught on surveillance video around the time the assault occurred.
